(4) Worse Hospitals in Metro Atlanta for Pneumonia Death Rates"
According to a Medicare Study of
Georgia Hospitals, Grady
Hospital has been ranked as one
of the four “Worse” Hospitals in
Metro Atlanta in Pneumonia Death
rates.
to the Board of Commissioners by
the Director of Health Services,
Dr. Patrice Harris, MD.
The study was conducted by HQA,
a public-private collaboration
established to promote reporting
on Hospital quality of care.
The information includes
“Process of Care” measures and
“Outcome of care” measures which
show what happens after patients
with certain conditions receive
Hospital care.
Piedmont Hospital was the only
metro Atlanta Hospital ranked
“Better”. The following
hospitals were rated “No
different”; Emory University,
Dekalb Medical, Northside
Hospital, South Fulton, St.
Joseph, Southern Regional, and
Wellstar Cobb. Other Metro
Atlanta Hospitals rated “Worse”
were Rockdale, and Emory
Eastside.
In the category, “Percentage of
Patients give Antibiotics at the

9-30-09:
Patient
Care and Customer Satisfaction
at Grady Hospital; What are
"Trends"?
Grady Corporation Officials have
stated that although customer
satisfaction ratings may be
poor, “The Trends are Good”.
However, based upon (unaudited)
data submitted by the
Corporation for the period June
1-June 30 2009, it is not clear
that generally poor ratings of
the Hospital by customers during
May 2009 have improved. In
fact, in every metric within the
Customer Services category
including “% of patients who
reported that their room and
bathroom were always clean”, the
trends are down.
