Westside TAD: Downtown Developments

 

The following Westside TAD Multi-family Housing Projects have Zero (0) Affordable Units: Historic Westside Village, Centennial House and Museum Tower. The City of Atlanta has not developed an affordable housing requirement for the Westside Tax Allocation District. A summary of Westside Tax Increments Collections for the period 1/1/1999 — 11/30/2008 prepared by the Office of the Tax Commissioner is as follows.  

 

Atlanta Public Schools             $26,627,040.19

Fulton County                          $14,828,679.16

City of Atlanta Operating                  $9,104,395.33

City of Atlanta Parks                         $606,304.88

TOTAL:                                              $51,166,419.56

Homeless Women & Children Program Expands

 

District 5 Facility to convert warehouse space into assessment center for women and children.  A joint program sponsored by the City of Atlanta and the Fulton County Department of Human Services.  Other major stakeholders include the United Way and the Atlanta Development Authority.

Fulton County Homeless Summary

 

According to the 2007 (most current Point-in-Time count) Homeless Census, there was a total of 6,209 homeless individuals in Fulton County, which is inclusive of parts of the City of Atlanta.

The end of Housing for the Poor: Atlanta's Katrina?

When Katrina hit New Orleans, she did more than flood a city.  She exposed another city-mostly black and mostly poor-where people were living their lives in a lake.  The levees broke, people died.  New Orleans and the nation will never be the same.
